Teaching Natural Deduction as a Subversive Activity

In this paper we argue that sequent proofs systems are a better deductive apparatus for introducing proofs to students than are natural deduction systems. Natural deduction derivations of superintuitionistic theorems (theorems of classical logic that are not intuitionistically valid) require indirect and often obtuse constructions. Constructing derivations in sequent systems is uniform, driven ...

Multimedia Cartography as Language in Language in the Geography Teaching

Introduction: The development of cartographic techniques has favored cost reduction and the distribution of cartographic representations in electronic ways. The availability of these representations, mainly in research sites in the web, and in different presentation scales, is becoming very common, contributing to the significant increase of the number of people that seek for the help of digita...

The Hartman-Grobman Theorem

The Hartman–Grobman Theorem (see [3, page 353]) was proved by Philip Hartman in 1960 [5]. It had been announced byGrobman in 1959 [1], likely unbeknownst to Hartman, and Grobmanpublished his proof in 1962 [2], likely without knowing of Hartman’s work. (Grobman attributes the question to Nemycki and an earlier partial result to R.M. Minc (citing Nauč. Dokl. Vysš. Školy. Fiz.-Mat. Nauki 1 (1958))...

On Hartman Almost Periodic Functions

In this note we consider multi-dimensional Hartman almost periodic functions and sequences, defined with respect to different averaging sequences of subsets in R or Z. We consider the behavior of their Fourier-Bohr coefficients and their spectrum, depending on the particular averaging sequence, and we demonstrate this dependence by several examples. Extensions to compactly generated, locally co...
